I am a neuropsychologist, working at the developmental psychology department of the University of Amsterdam. In 2009 I started my PhD project regarding the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral treatment for adolescents with ADHD. Before I started this project I worked as a clinician at an outpatient clinic, diagnosing and treating children and adolescents with ADHD and autism. Since there were hardly any evidence based interventions for adolescents with ADHD I wanted to investigate whether a cognitive behavioral therapy can be beneficial for adolescents with ADHD.
In my PhD project, a multi-centre randomized controlled trial, I compare a CBT focused on training planning skills with a control treatment for adolescents with ADHD from 12 to 17 years old. As for now, 195 adolescents have been treated and in 2013 we will have the first results. See also www.zelfplannen.com and www.zelfoplossingenbedenken.nl.
